Creating Stranraer - Listening and Visioning Meeting 25th August 2022

  Welcome to your update from the Listening and Visioning meeting 25th August 2022 Wow, these meetings just keep getting better. A special thank you to all who came and took part plus the people who volunteered to help (I couldn't do it without you). And, of course, all the people who make these meetings nothing like any other town meeting you have ever been to. Street Artist for Stranraer - September 2022

  Street Art Commission for Stranraer  Closing date - midnight, 18th September 2022. The Creating Stranraer project (Stranraer Development Trust) would like to commission a contemporary street artist to paint the first major wall painting in the town as a precursor to a planned Street Art Festival in the town (summer 2023). The commission is for a prominent town centre location and is on the same building that will be home to a creative hub for the arts in the town. Stranraer is at a very interesting point in its history – it is somewhere that has re-invented itself several times in the past as industries (eg herring fishing) have changed. 10 years ago the ferry service to Northern Ireland moved from Stranraer and a question mark has hung over the place since – what would the next version of the town be? Stranraer is the regional centre for one of the most beautiful and remote areas of Scotland, a place with a rich history through its connections to Ireland, NW England and Wales. This
